Ski Instructor Level 1

This course is an introduction to ski instruction and the role of a ski instructor within the ski industry. It combines the basics of practical ski teaching methods and technical understanding.

The course is separated between teaching and skiing and you will be assessed on your ability to teach new skiers from the basics through to a parallel turn. You will also be assessed on your ability demonstrating the skiing technique to achieve this.

Over the 4 day course you will improve upon your skiing demonstrations and teaching technique with the advice and guidance from course conductors.

This will give you all the necessary skills to successfully obtain your level 1 certification.

This course will improve your skiing ability and includes much more:

  • An introduction to CSIA skiing and teaching methodology
  • Strategies to develop skiers from entry level to intermediate (parallel)
  • Techniques and strategies for effective assessment and development
  • Personal feedback on ski performance from the course conductor
  • Workshop on customer service
  • Workshop on teaching children Lesson planning
  • Effective communication skills Strategies for future development

When I pass, who can I teach?

The successful candidate is certified to teach entry level to intermediate parallel skiers.


How long is the exam and is it stressful?

The exam is set over 4 days, is fun, enjoyable and within a relaxed atmosphere. If you ever feel any pressure all you have to do is breathe in some mountain air and go for a free ski to clear your head! There is no stress in a mountain environment! You are assessed over the 4 day period.
