Essential Gear List For Backcountry Touring

Revelstoke epitomises the ultimate backcountry experience. In collaboration with the Revelstoke based clothing and sports gear store Free Spirits Sports, we have compiled the essential gear list you'll need for a day of backcountry touring. Think we missed anything out? Add your contribution to the comments!

Avalanche gear

1. Beacon

2. Probe

3. Shovel

1. Warm mid layer - down jacket is the best option for warmth and compression

2. A good shell jacket

3. An extra pair of socks

4. Ski gloves (an extra pair of fleece gloves is also recommended)

5. Goggles (it's beneficial to bring an extra lens)

Food and Drink

1. Lots of water

2. A good lunch and snacks (Check out our Pinterest board for inspiration)

3. Thermos (500ml) with your favourite hot beverage/soup
